It’s easy for you to be focused on Media Composer, Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro X. However, there are many other NLEs out there that are capable, especially for Windows/PC platforms. One of those is Sony VEGAS Pro 17 Black Friday Deals 2021, which was originally developed by Sonic Foundry and came to market in 1999.
VEGAS started out as a DAW. However, VEGAS Pro was soon made competitive by adding video. The software development team eventually moved to Sony (Sony Creative Software), and then to VEGAS Creative Software, which is owned by Magix, a German company that makes software. Along with the VEGAS product line, Magix also handles the other creative apps from the Sonic Foundry/Sony family, including Acid and Sound Forge.

You can purchase the VEGAS Edit applications in many versions or bundles depending on your needs and budget. Magix provided VEGAS POST to me for review. This bundle includes the VEGAS Pro 17 editing software with VEGAS Effects, VEGAS Image, and VEGAS Image. These apps were created in collaboration with FX Home.
VEGAS Effects shares technology and HitFilm Pro, and VEGAS Image shares technology and a foundation with Imerge Pro. It’s similar in concept to Adobe Premiere Pro combined with After Effects or Photoshop.
Technically, this is not the first impression. I have reviewed VEGAS several times before and my son used VEGAS extensively to record and mix music many years ago. This is my first time reviewing the new VEGAS Pro 17. This is an easy-to-use editing program that’s optimized to work on Windows 10. This 64-bit program fully takes advantage of the Windows Media framework. You can also benefit from GPU acceleration for effects, some codecs, and speeding up rendering if you use NVIDIA or AMD GPU cards.
It may take some time to get used to VEGAS’s user interface and workflow if you have never worked with it before. The general editing concepts of VEGAS are very similar to Apple’s Final Cut Pro X and iMovie. However, VEGAS existed long before Apple did.
VEGAS Pro 17 features a more modern UI, with tabbed panels and a darker appearance. You can customize the interface by undocking tabs or moving panels. The interface has a new look and there are many contextual menus. Although I would have liked them to go further with the interface design, I also know how difficult it can be to make changes when you have a loyal following.
VEGAS Pro 17 has over 30 new features thanks to Magix’s renewed support for the VEGAS Creative software team. One of the most important is nested timelines. VEGAS always considered its project structure to be based on one timeline.
Multiple timelines required that VEGAS be opened multiple instances of the application. VEGAS’ new feature, which allows for compound or nested clips, is a departure from other NLEs.
Start by selecting clips from the timeline and editing them together. Next, create and save a new nest timeline that includes those clips. The nest can be saved as a separate VEGAS file. Each nest can be edited by multiple editors.
Any changes made to the parent timeline are then reflected in the parent timeline. You might edit a show and create three separate timelines: the open, the body, and the final. Each segment can be edited by a different editor as a separate project. These three segments are automatically combined and then updated in the parent timeline.
The bottom toolbar now includes new tools that make it easier to navigate between the parent and nested timelines.
Other features include integrated screen capture, planar tracking, and optical flow slow movement. Smart Split is an edit function that allows you to cut interview soundbites. Smart Split is a command that marks the in- and out points of a long timeline clip.
This section is cut out and the ends are joined. Then a brief warp flow transition will be applied. The effect can be seen in real-time, but the morph occurs between two frames rather than with continuous motion throughout the duration of the transition. Avid employs a similar effect with Media Composer.
This computer was set up with an AMD CPU rather than an Intel CPU. VEGAS Pro and Premiere Pro might have performed better if I used an Intel Xeon processor or Core i9 processor.
Sony VEGAS Pro 17 Black Friday Deals 2021– Buying Guide
Sony VEGAS Pro 17 Black Friday Deals 2021 media performance is excellent, provided you use optimized formats. It is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9, 16-core CPU, 64GB RAM, and an RTX 2080 XC (11GB), GPU. Good media performance is dependent on hard drives.
This configuration was made with two Samsung 1TB M.2 SSDs. One of these SSDs was my primary media drive during these tests. The SSD drives were able to write at 2600 MB/s and read at 3900-3100MB/s.
The case and power supply can support a lot of internal hardware, media expansion, and many USB ports. This workstation is not inexpensive, but it offers more value than comparable HP or Apple workstations
